FARBSITE ~ POEMS FROM THE HEART

God grant me the SERENITY
To accept the things I cannot change
The COURAGE to change the things I can
And the WISDOM to know the difference.

I'd like to extend a very special thank you to those that have entrusted their thoughts
and words to this page.Thank you for sharing these gifts.

An Uplifting Poem by Doni-Marie Oliver

Your dreams are high,
Far beyond the sky,
But to that goal
you must strive;

You are here to learn,
And each victory earn,
That's the point
to being alive;

You see there is more
On the furthest shore,
But you must be
determined to swim;

Don't hold yourself back
By believing a lack,
The way to succeed
is jump in;

For what's best for you
You know you can do,
Any obstacles
learn to ignore;

Stand up for your dreams,
Forget how life seems,
You're a phoenix
---so let yourself soar.

THE SHOES LEFT UNTENDED

by:Pamela Pauley-Perreault ©1997

No words can erase the pain in my heart,
The ache that I feel deep inside.
The betrayal of trust,
The truth of just knowing you lied.

The deeds from your drugs
That began at fourteen,
The stealing, the lying and all
I hoped were erased by the inpatient care
But mostly you heard the Lord call.

What caused the relapse
Or was I blinded again?
The ache in my heart is so great.
The cold in the stare,
The ice in the air,
The smirk that replaces a smile.

When first you arrived
The Lord filled your soul,
The depth of your being brought tears.
We talked about life, we talked about love,
We talked about God,
And we talked about spiritual beauty.
You warned me, however,
That evil is present,
To be alert and always on guard.
What happened to you in your quest to fit in?
Were the shoes of the Lord that were given to you
To aid on your road in this life,
Left sitting alone, not polished, not ready
For the steps that you knew you must take?

The tears that now fall
No smile can erase,
No deeds can replace,
The trust that forever is shattered.

May the Lord take your hand,
May He be there again,
And help you to find your way back.
Before you’re destroyed,
Or you destroy others,
May the smirk someday change
To a smile that’s sincere.
May the shoes someday fit with the soul.

Personal Note from Pam:
If this poem can help anyone you know who is involved in drugs/alcohol, please copy it and give
it to them to read to share and to carry. If it saves just one life, or can help
just one person in this lifetime, then my being has been rewarded.

*** C O N T R O L ***

Come - escape from your pain,
See the colors again
The rainbow is yours just to take.
Control is the name of my game.

Relax - open wide -
Let my magic inside
One snort or one hit,
One gulp for the road,
Let your mind spin with carefree joy.
Control is the name of my game.

My name is Addiction,
I’m evil! I kill!
But I’ll make you think I’m your friend.
Control is the name of my game.

Don’t try to escape,
I won’t let you go.
You’re hooked on the edge of my knife,
I’ll govern the rest of your life.
Control is the name of my game.

I’ll hold you, I’ll keep you
‘Till Hell freezes over.
You’ll never escape from my charm.
I’ll ease all your pains,
The world will seem right.
Control is the name of my game.

But your friend over there,
The one who won’t do,
Knows that I’m really a fake.
He knows he can conquer,
He knows he can win.
Control is the name of his game.

He’s discovered my scam,
He knows that I cheat,
He knows that you’re doomed if you stay.
Control is the name of his game.

He’s learned I’ll destroy,
He’s learned I can’t win,
If only he keeps up his guard.
Control is the name of his game.

He’s strong, he’s determined
I can’t break his will,
Though I try and I tempt and I beg.
Control is the name of his game.

He discovered the will to keep me away,
I know that I don’t have a home.
He’s has tools, he has drive,
He won’t take me back.
I know that he won’t take me back.
He says that I’ll go to my grave.
Control is the name of his game.

He’s conquered, he’s won,
He’s strong, he’ll survive.
His life is his own.
