      Anti-Epileptic Medications (AED's) Safety Tips

    Forgetting your AED medication is the most common cause of breakthrough seizures or increased seizures.

         Make sure you always have an adequate supply of medications.
 

bullet

      To assist with this - mark your calendar for one week before new supply is needed.
 

bullet

            If you experience side effects consult your physician.
 

bullet

           Often a change in dosage or times taken will correct the problem of side effects, if not a new medication may be prescribed.
 

bullet

            DO NOT DISCONTINUE the use of any AED medication without the supervision of your physician.
 

bullet

              Your pharmacist will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding your AED's.

               Brand name and generic drugs do not always contain the same ingredients. 
 

bullet

        Do not substitute without checking with your physician prior to any change.
 

bullet

                 Store medication out of reach of children.
 

bullet

                 Store in a cool dry location.
 

bullet

                 Some AED's should be taken with food.
 

bullet
