One Hundred Twenty Two elegantly dressed Red and Pink
Hatters
attended this celebration at Parkbridge Estates Recreation
Hall in
Lethbridge. Hosted by The Holy Hattitude Chapter of
Lethbridge for
Fun, Tea and Entertainment in honor of the Red Hat Society
10th Birthday.
These wonderful, capable ladies discarded all their
elegance for a
very hilarious fashion show, with narration by one of their
lovely chapterettes .
What sights to behold! From a "Painter" to "Queen Pat"
each and every lady
presented a wonderful talent for improvisation! I think I
liked the wine lady
decorated with grape vines, leaves and grapes with the most
fabulous big hat made of "corks" with Red & Purple grapes!
Keeping in the spirit of things to be sure! The entire chapter presented us with so many
different guises I could not begin to describe each of them here. Suffice it to say
- they certainly entertained us rounding it out with an invitation for all of
us to join them in blowing our Kazoo's to the tune of "Tiny Bubbles." What
fun! Yes, the Kazoo is the Red Hat Society Official Musical Instrument!
Everyone can play!
I would be remiss in my telling if I didn't include the
beautiful Red Hat
decorations on tables and around the hall, the tasty finger
sandwiches
and squares. We know how much time and effort goes into
making that
many for a large gathering. Not only did they entertain us,
they were our
servers, clean up crew and dish washers. Admirable, ladies!
Many door prizes were awarded as well as gift bags. All the Queens attending
were asked to introduce
themselves and their chapter sisters. We are coming together
at so many events
being held, we now recognize more and meeting new each time. What a
great disorganization this is!
You just have to hear about our little Celebrity, Kara
Kotkas. She is a
very young Pink Hatter attending this Tea with her Red Hat
Grandma.
When she was 5 years old she wrote a book titled "Grandma
and Me,
the Red Hats and Tea" which is now published and on sale.
While we were
socializing, young Kara was autographing her books. What a
delight to see
we are making such an impression on the youth of our
communities because
surely, if there is one, there are more future Red Hatters!
It warms our hearts to know on this day wearing purple
or lavender outfits
with red or pink hats, hundreds of thousands of women, in
30 countries, dressed
in those same colors will celebrate - all over the world -
what we have come to
refer to as "Red Hat Society Day!"
We had a marvelous time sharing fun and laughter, going
home in great
spirits having won prizes and strengthened the bond of our
sisterhood with
Red Hatters that "Just Wanna Have Fun!"
Thank you to all the ladies of the Holy Hattitude Chapter!
