RED HATS & ELVIS!!
An afternoon
Christmas Luncheon, hosted by the Lethbridge Red Hat Cinnamon Sisters
was an event to remember! All Chapterettes attending were requested
to decorate our Red Hats for Christmas and what an amazing display!
Everything from extravagance to simple Santa hats to elegance! Not to
mention all those flashing and twinkling lights sprouting from the
heads of some of those Red Hatters that Matter! I would not have
wanted to be a judge!
As all the Red
Hatters started to gather, filling the room, greeting old and new
friends, and finding seats, the guest performer, Stuart MacLeod was
singing and mingling with all of us. He was just a normal but very
personable young man dressed in jeans. We knew he just had to be
Elvis, BUT…many ladies were wondering if he would “dress as Elvis”?
Attending with me were; Countess of Harmony Fran, Lady Wisteria, Linda, and Val of the House of Aetna.
After a
delicious lunch and scrumptious dessert of course, all presented by
the able servers of Ericksons Banquet staff……ELVIS APPEARED!! You
should have heard the shouts and whistles from this “over 50” crowd of
well dressed ladies! A genuine hoot was underway!
True to his press release, he is not an impersonator, he “Pay’s
Tribute to the King”!
You can check out his Website at www.inmemoryoftheking.ca and hear and see this special man, Stuart MacLeod. Being of the older generation, and having seen Elvis in person - way back when - I can tell you honestly, not only does he resemble him, he sounds like him! This young man gave a very charming top performance as he sang to each and everyone of us with his incredible strong voice, as well as shook our hands, as he roamed among the tables. I had the very distinct pleasure of him singing Happy Birthday to me! If you close your eye’s you would think it truly Elvis himself! His stunning performance ended after an hour and a half of his great repertoire of Elvis songs and a few Christmas Carols with Red Hatters singing along.
Much to our
surprise and pleasure, Elvis assisted Queen Shirley of the Cinnamon
Sisters by drawing names for all the many prizes offered. I am
tickled to tell you I not only won a 50/50 draw but a door prize as
well! What a wonderful birthday I’m having!
The Cinnamon
Sisters can be very proud of their efforts to present a lovely
luncheon and a highly entertaining afternoon. At it’s conclusion, it
was a must to have a picture taken with Elvis and as I listened to all
the chatter, laughter and huge smiles on the faces of all those lovely
Red Hatters that Matter, I knew it was a successful endeavor! We
Chief Mountain Southern Belles were so pleased to be invited to attend
this very special Christmas Luncheon.
In Fun &
Hilarity!
