2009 HENDERSON LAKE VICTORIAN STROLL

RED HATS IN ELEGANCE, BEAUTY AND
ALL THEIR BLING…
strolled
the paths of Henderson Lake in Lethbridge for our 2nd
annual VICTORIAN STROLL WITH PARASOLS on a warm and sunny
Saturday.
One of our very favorite past times is to
play dress up and so it was that so many lovely ladies came
dressed as in Victorian Day apparel. Such a display of
beauty is natural when we put on elegant Purple clothing,
exquisite and large Red Hats and adorn ourselves with all
the Bling, we do feel very special! Everyone, everywhere we
go, notice’s and the best compliments we can receive are
from an admiring public wanting to know who, why, what, etc.
and naturally we are happy to stop to chat and tell anyone
interested all about The Red Hat Society! With 92 Chapters
of Happy Red Hatters that Matter in this southern part of
Alberta, we don’t seem to be such a shock any longer as we
have been in existence for eleven years now!
There is always a comedian among us and
this time it was in the guise of one of the gals dressed as
a ladies maid with mob cap, apron and walking the dog…she
was constantly bowing and scraping to her Royal Highness,
her Queen of her Chapter!!
We are ALL Royalty as we have a Queen for
each Chapter and all Chapterettes choose a Royal Title.
We do love to laugh and the unexpected is
such a joy…..we have the freedom to “just do it” and no one
thinks less of “her ladies maid” because she didn’t “dress
up”!
To keep our memories of our Victorian
Strolls we have a book everyone attending signs with their
names and chapters. They come from Cardston to Calgary to
Medicine Hat to Lethbridge to Claresholm, to share in our
fun. Camera’s are constantly snapping and many of those
picture’s will be entered in our memory book each year. It’s
very entertaining to “go back in time” seeing candid shots
of many of us having a very enjoyable moment.
Special moments are always welcome so
when a very large cake decorated with a Red Hat was
presented to two of our lovely ladies from the Holy
Hattitudes Chapter, it was with great enthusiasm we all
gathered to sing “Happy Birthday” and to partake of a piece
of cake! It is the Red Hat Way…sharing in friendship and
love! Another sweet memory for Mary Ellen and Pat!
This event is hosted by the Chief
Mountain Red Hat Southern Belles of Cardston because we love
the fun, freedom, fulfillment and friendship of the Red Hat
Society!
Getting together with other chapters to
have those moments in time…are priceless.
In Fun & Hilarity!
