Hosted by the Taber Red Hot Mamas and held in Taber’s St. Theodores
Anglican Church Hall which was also decorated in a Harvest theme, there
were games of fun, guess the amount of candy in the jar, a raffle, and a
Decorated Hat Contest. .Many of the chapters attending also brought
their scrapbooks along for everyone to view. What fun to look back to
past events we have all attended and to smile at some of the antics in
those pictures! We even found pictures of ourselves we didn’t know had
been taken! Red Hatters just having fun of course! It’s what we do!
The hoots of laughter while performing blind folded to pin the feather
on the Turkey’s Hat - yes, it’s a child’s game as we let the child in us
out to play! Those holes in the bean bag toss were just too small!! But
everyone got some little gift for at least attempting so you can imagine
the hoots when someone actually accomplished the feat and won a prize!

Queen E and her Royal court of Medicine Hat "Red
Hats in The Hat"
It was wonderful to once again visit with all the Queens and
Chapterettes we so enjoy being with at these events. They were from
Medicine Hat: Red Hats in The Hat, Medicine Hat
Memory L-apsers, Desert Roses, Sun City Hatters. Claresholm
Foxy Ladies, Coaldale Summer Wine, Cardston
Chief Mountain So. Belles and Klassy Crimson Hatters, Calgary
Red Hot Mommas, Lethbridge Holy Hattitudes,
Lavender & Lace, and Red Hat Teddies, Vulcan:
Vul-Con Trekkie Troopers and Taber: Red Hat
Crazy and of course our Host Chapter the Red Hot Mamas
of Taber with their Queen Helen did an outstanding job of
putting this entire event together and they carried it off with such
aplomb!
We were such an enthusiastic group of women, having arrived earlier
than the time stated in our invitation - perhaps because we had to come
from so far? We were invited to partake of their wonderful lunch
earlier than they planned. They were certainly up to the challenge as
those ladies were amazing.
In keeping with their harvest theme, these ladies had set a different
piece of fruit at the end of each table and as they called out a fruit,
that table was to go to the buffet. How smoothly it all moved along.
Following a delicious lunch with a variety of desserts (we do love
our dessert!) they then had a parade of all those Red Hat Ladies in
their incredibly beautiful, inventive, fun and elegant Red Hat’s
decorated in red and purple “harvest” theme! The judges did a great
deal of looking and studying each of these hats throughout the event and
in the customary way of all those creative creations, it was a hard
choice!
The over all winner was Queen E from Medicine Hat Red Hats in The Hat!
With 6 runner ups! From the wild response I would have to say that
their choices were unanimous among the entire Red Hatters attending!
We then were gifted with a story from Nicky of the Taber Red Hot
Mamas that had each of us practically rolling between the tables with so
much laughter. What an absolute hoot it was!
And that my friends is what a “hoot” is all about when gathering
so many Red Hatters together. We had a marvelous time and as always so
sorry to see it come to an end. We thank Queen Helen and her Royal
Court for a grand and glorious “harvest hoot” with calls of “see you
next time”! Fun - it’s what we do each time we get together with
other Red Hatters and more joining us every day!
