RED HAT LADIES PARTY IN SPOKANE!

Queen Pat Bogdan of Lethbridge Holy Hattitudes with Gift Basket won!

The North West Red Hat Convergence was recently held by the Red Hat Habeneros and Classy Red Hatties of Spokane, Washington.  We arrived by car and by bus as 42 of us area Red Hatters did, having rented the Chinook Tours bus with owner Terry Kenley as our driver.  It was unanimous we would all travel with him again as the bus was a delightful high rise with bathroom and a very accommodating driver!  We Red Hatters do like to travel in style.  Needless to say, we arrived well rested and in high spirits at our host hotel on the banks of the Spokane River in the beautiful River Park Area of downtown Spokane.

An impressive 597 Red Hatters attended with a large number of Red Hat Ladies from Cardston, Lethbridge, Calgary, Red Deer, Oakatoks and Edmonton.  Alberta is always well represented as well as many chapters from B.C. and a large representation of Red Hatters from the N.W. States as well.  That ballroom was just a SEA of  Red & Purple!
The Theme of this Convergence was “The Roaring 20’s” and although the food was very good, it was the impressive Flapper dresses worn for the Saturday evening’s event that were an eyeful to be sure!  What glamour! What fun!  The entertainment for the entire weekend  with the Tapping Grandmas, Old Time Music Band complete with spoons, The Cloggers, and Shriners I would have been hard pressed to pick a favorite until “The Strolling Strings” - students from a local high school did indeed stroll among our tables playing beautiful music on their string instruments.  We will treasure the memory of a delightful moment in time for our listening pleasure.  Red Hatted ladies are very appreciative of such wonderful talent.

The gift baskets each chapter brought with them were given out as numbers we were given upon arrival were drawn throughout the weekend.  They are certainly something to behold with not only their creativeness but the quality and anyone lucky enough to win one of these baskets was a very happy Red Hatter!

When not in the ballroom we were apt to be found just about anywhere in the River Park Area where there was so much to do and to see.  We loved the HUGE Little Red Wagon in the children’s park and some Canadians gathered in that wagon to have our picture taken all together.  Unfortunately all Canadians were not able to participate.
The Carousel was quite the draw also. There was a Wine Tour and a Casino and when we weren’t playing…we were SHOPPING downtown and at the Vendors set up in the Hotel.  They had all the BLING which was so hard to resist and of course we came home with more clothes and Hats since we can never have too many of those!

A Pajama breakfast was the culmination of a wonderful weekend and to say our sad goodbye’s to new sisters met with promises to stay in touch.  Email is such a wonderful communication device, so immediate it is easy to chat with sister Red Hatters from afar with hopes of meeting again at the next Red Hat Convergence!  Yes, we are already making our reservations for next year with hopes more will join in our Fun, Friendship, Freedom and Fulfillment of the Red Hat Society as we circle the globe!
